WELCOME TO EPIGLYMPH

Redefining epilepsy treatment - the role of waste clearing in the brain

The EpiGlymph team is situated in the School of Biotechnology and the Life Science Institute at Dublin City University, in the heart of North Dublin. Our lab is funded mainly through an Irish Research Council Starting Laureate Award. Our goal is to develop the next generation of therapeutics for epilepsy through a deeper understanding of changes occurring in astrocytes, the major glial cell type in the CNS.

EpiGlymph aims to develop the next generation of therapeutics for epilepsy through a deeper and enhanced understanding of changes occurring in astrocytes. We aim to reveal for the first time that the glymphatic system – the major waste clearing system in the brain – is a key driver in epileptogenesis that can be used to predict epilepsy development, and to develop novel therapeutic interventions to boost the glymphatic system. Read on to find out more about our latest work.
